Peninsula International Academy, approaching its 4th year of operation with 62 students is a private Preschool-Std. 6 primary school located in beautiful Placencia Village, Belize. A critical design element of PIA is that students learn from the real world. In 2015-16 PIA had three major real world projects: the Placencia Village parking lot creation, our first annual Earth Day celebration, and the Sustainability Skit in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund. Student trips are another opportunity for real world learning, this year students visited a small scale farm and participated in producing coconut oil, explored NimLi Punit, attended the Maya Center herbal and cultural exploration tour, videoed and interviewed Placencia community helpers, engaged in a round table discussion of current events with Ya-Ya Marin Coleman and examined the Sagitun Bananna Farm.
