The Enhancing Eco-systems and Coastal Protection for Climate Change Resilience in the Caribbean (ECP-Caribbean) project aims to bolster the climate resilience of Caribbean communities by transforming the management of vital coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds. These ecosystems are crucial for biodiversity and serve as significant economic assets, underpinning tourism and fisheries while protecting shorelines from erosion and storm impacts. The project is expected to reach approximately 250,000 direct beneficiaries and 3.3 million indirect beneficiaries across seven Caribbean nations: Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname. It emphasizes a participatory approach involving national governments, civil society, and the private sector to develop frameworks for ecosystem protection and management.

ECP-Caribbean will implement nature-based solutions to enhance resilience while fostering gender-responsive financing and encouraging community engagement in conservation efforts. The initiative will focus on developing country-specific action plans, improving monitoring systems for coastal ecosystems, and promoting partnerships among stakeholders to ensure sustainable management practices. By addressing climate change's human rights dimensions, particularly for vulnerable populations, the project seeks not only to protect natural resources but also to empower communities economically and socially through capacity-building activities targeting youth involvement in ecosystem restoration and management.
