Enhancing Climate Resilience in Jamaica – Fostering inclusive Climate Finance through the DBJ’s Blue Green Facility

CCCCC’s Assistant Executive Director, Dr. Mark Bynoe moderated a side event at the CARICOM Pavilion. The event: Enhancing Climate Resilience in Jamaica – Fostering inclusive Climate Finance through the DBJ’s Blue Green Facility showcased the DBJ’s Blue Green Facility, a climate finance mechanism that is reshaping the landscape of resilience-building investments. This side event highlighted how the facility mobilizes concessional capital to drive investments in critical sectors—energy, agriculture, water, and infrastructure—that are essential to Jamaica’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

What makes the Blue Green Facility remarkable? It adopts a blended finance approach, which strategically combines public and private funding to de-risk climate resilience projects. By bridging gaps in traditional financing, DBJ empowers the private sector to take an active role in initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), benefiting not only Jamaica but also the wider Caribbean region.

The panel’s presentation spoke to the power of innovation and partnership in addressing climate challenges. Demonstrating that financial mechanisms tailored to regional contexts can accelerate the transition to sustainable, low-carbon economies while uplifting local and regional communities.

As we continue our conversations at COP29, this side event is one of many that supports the regions dedication to approaching climate finance with innovation, creativity, inclusivity, and a commitment to long-term resilience.
